Non-domestic rates

The Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) has requested an “urgent meeting” with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her Cabinet Secretaries to discuss “crippling” non-domestic rates increases. Mark Crothall, Chief Executive of STA has written to Ms Sturgeon voicing the organisations concerns over what he cites as up to and above 200% increase in some cases. STA is encouraging those in the tourism sector to send their stories so that they can get better detail and share the bigger picture to help bring about change. Following the Cross Party Group on Tourism this week, Scottish Land & Estates and other members of the group will be writing to the Culture, Tourism, Europe and External Affairs Committee to request an emergency evidence session. This is in order to elicit an official response to the effects of the non-domestic rates revaluation from government.
