Major Conference considers Sustainable Agriculture challenges

Chairman, David Johnstone and Senior Policy Officer, Anne Gray were in Brussels this week for the Forum for the Future of Agriculture 2017 conference.  This major event included keynote addresses from former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan and round the world Yachtswoman, Ellen MacArthur, who now heads up the Ellen MacArthur foundation on the circular economy.

Also speaking at the event were Franz Fischler and Phil Hogan, New Zealand’s Agriculture Minister, Nathan Guy, and the RISE foundation’s Janez Potonicz and Allan Buckwell, who considered whether the CAP was fit for the Sustainable Development Goals era.  Later sessions looked at the role of science in agriculture and at case studies from around the world on how sustainability in food production systems could be achieved.  The sessions can be viewed here...
