Derelict and Urban Vacant Land Decreases from 2015

This week the Chief Statistician published the 2016 derelict and urban vacant land figures as reported by local authorities. The total amount of derelict and urban vacant land decreased by 253 hectares 2% since 2015. 321 hectares were brought back into use, 63% of this to residential use, and 142 hectares were naturalised. There were 165 hectares of new sites reported and an additional 45 hectares due to changes to previously reported sites.

Four councils did not update their survey so 2015 figures have been carried over.
