Amnesty on tenant’s improvements

The Scottish Government is continuing to roll out implementation of the agricultural holdings provisions in the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016.

One of the key provisions in the 2016 Act relates to the amnesty on tenant’s improvements.  The amnesty commenced on 13 June 2017 and will last for 3 years.  During that time, agricultural tenants and landlords can formalise improvements which were carried out prior to 13 June 2017 but did not meet the statutory requirements.

Scottish Land & Estates has prepared the following briefing note on the terms of the legislation.
