Private Water supply consultation

Scottish Land & Estates has submitted a response to the draft Water Intended for Human Consumption (Private Supplies) (Scotland) Regulations 2017. The Scottish Government is proposing changes in order to transpose EU Directive 2015/1787 and to amend the regulations. In our response, we have urged the government to properly recognise the high costs involved in maintaining and upgrading private water supplies.

The Drinking Water Quality Regulator (DWQR) for Scotland’s latest annual report shows that Scottish Water’s compliance with the stringent standards for drinking water is extremely high at 99.91%.
