Broadband Delivery Bypassing Scottish Government

There has been significant press this week about the provision of broadband following MP Matt Hancock’s announcement that future funding would go directly to Scottish Local Authorities rather than to Scottish Government. The responsibilities and delivery success remain unclear with UK Government and Scottish Government are having an ongoing public spat. Scotland has its own Digital Strategy and targets but telecommunications is not a devolved issue and significant funding has come from a UK level as well as Scottish Government, councils, the EU, BT and HIE.
