Rural Economy Committee Questions Mr Ewing on Sporting Rates

Cabinet Secretary Fergus Ewing faced the Rural Economy Committee as they scrutinised the draft budget on Wednesday. Mr Ewing was questioned on how the introduction of rates on shootings and deer forests has been considered in the budget, particularly in relation to Forestry Enterprise Scotland. Mr Ewing stated that he believed a relief was required for forestry land where shooting for sporting purposes did not take place. Supplementary questions were asked regarding deer larders linked to forestry enterprises and how other land types where no sporting took place would be treated.
