George is originally from Northern Ireland and has lived in Dumfries & Galloway since 2010. He lives in Dalbeattie with his wife, Emma.
He worked in banking and finance in NI for over 25 years and was a Business Banking Manager with Northern/Danske Bank. He also ran a farming enterprise in Enniskillen.
He has an Honours Degree in Economics, a Diploma in Accounting and, more recently, a Forestry degree.
He became involved in forestry through an investment and has been Executive Director/ Corporate Services for the Royal Scottish Forestry Society since 2016 (leaving in December) which involved looking after the membership, administration and liaising with the RSFS regions regarding the running of around 20 Field Days each year plus an (whole Society) Annual Study Tour.
He also does some forestry management work with a local company.
George is well known in the area and already knows quite a few SLE members.
George's job title was changed from Regional Support Officer to Regional Manager – South West (Dumfries & Galloway) in March 2023.
