Job Title:Business Development Manager
Location/Based:Home with weekly visits to SLE office and travel to other locations in the UK
Reports To:Director of Operations (DoO)
Staff Responsibility:Working as part of the operations team
General Overview of the position:

Supporting the Director of Operations, the Business Development Manager will be focused primarily on generating new business and maximising revenue whilst building the value of our corporate members to generate additional sponsorship and advertising income.

The post holder will spend a substantial part of there time prospecting potential new members (both landowners and corporate) and canvasing for new advertisers.

Main duties and responsibilities:

New Business Development - Investigate new business opportunities for the benefit of the organisation, either resource, cost saving or income generation.

Recruitment & retention of members – Work with the regional team to implement targeted recruitment plan for specific groups of members. Carry out activity to improve recruitment and retention of Landowning, Trade and Professional members. 

Maintain Relationships – Work with existing members, advertisers and sponsors to ensure they continue support and get value for money.

Sponsorship packages – Utilise our membership profile to identify and secure increased and higher value sponsorship funding for events, projects and publications. 

Advertising – increase direct revenue from advertising including website and other publications. Management and administration of commercial content of the organisation’s magazine.

Member Business promotion – increase opportunities for individual trade member businesses to promote their services to the sector and other potential customers through a variety of means including business directory, conference and shows.

Member Benefits package enhancements – identify, negotiate and implement new benefits for our core membership e.g. Discount packages, supply agreements, bulk purchase deals.

Events - Working with Director of Operations, Events Co-ordinator and others in the planning, logistics and delivery of national shows and special events.

General - Promote the benefits of membership and work of SLE to all and promote the Wildlife Estates accreditation scheme, Helping it Happen and SLE campaigns

Other Duties

Financial Management – Using relationships with members assist finance assistant with debtor control and retaining members. Assist the team in carrying out subscription renewal events.

Facilities Management – supporting the DoO with day-to-day management.

Reporting – regular reporting to DoO through regular reporting formats 

Main Requirements

Experience in working with a customer database (CRM)

Experience in sales, marketing or related field.

Strong communication skills and IT fluency.

Ability to manage projects and multi-task.

Excellent organisational skills.

Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.

Full Driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle

Salary£36,050 to  £39,295 plus commission (depending on experience)
CommissionMonthly above £1,000 = average 20% of net income
Target£2,500 net new business income per month
