The 2023 SLE Flagship Annual Conference, Rural Land: Delivering for Scotland sponsored by Galbraith and Gillespie Macandrew will be held at the Assembly Rooms, George Street, Edinburgh on Wednesday 3 May 2023.
We are delighted to announce our conference will be hosted this year by Claire Taylor the well-known columnist, and TV and radio commentator, and our keynote speakers are SLE's Director of Policy Stephen Young and Lord Offord of Garvel, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland.
The aim of the conference is to highlight how land delivers for Scotland – for people, jobs & nature. We will showcase inspirational stories of success and best practice across the wide range of topics commonly linked to land reform such as working with communities, creating opportunities, increasing rural housing and addressing the climate and nature emergencies.
We will also highlight the challenges of rural landownership and identify the potential risks of some of the land reform proposals and hear from some of the key players who will be involved in the debate in the coming year, on what this means for landowners in all areas and of all scales.
This full-day event is a must attend for all members - land reform affects all SLE members be they landowners, estates, farmers and all rural businesses. This is your opportunity to be involved and to ask questions of the experts and to challenge their views. Our conference aims to provide you with a huge amount of advice and guidance, and gives you the opportunity to be informed of forthcoming legislation and good practice and ask questions of the experts on how you can prepare for this.
It is also a great opportunity to catch up with your friends and associates and to meet new contacts as well as to gain a huge amount of advice, information and insight which will benefit you in both long term planning and everyday management decisions.
