Housing Road Show: Facing Change, Finding Opportunity

Scotland’s housing sector is evolving rapidly, with new legislation and policy proposals that will significantly impact rural housing providers. This roadshow offers a timely opportunity to understand what’s coming, ask questions, and explore how rural landowners and housing providers can adapt and thrive in the face of change.

Topics will include:

  • The new Housing Bill - including how rent controls might impact rural landowners, where exemptions may apply, and what the new rights for tenants (such as keeping pets or making property changes) mean in practice. We’ll also cover Awaab’s Law and the actions that will be required to address mould in tenanted housing.
  • The complexities around regulation and housing on agricultural holdings: including the repairing standard and how housing legislation interacts with agricultural tenancies.
  • The latest proposals for energy efficiency compliance in the private rented sector and what this means for rural and traditional properties.
  • Retrofit solutions for traditional building will also be covered with a focus on effective approaches to energy efficiency for “hard to treat” homes.
  • New housing delivery – exploring planning and development pathways to deliver new homes in rural areas amidst evolving regulation and rising costs.

We look forward to seeing you on the 7 October.
