Adam Davies, Tourism & Leisure Specialist at Savills
Adam recently joined Savills last year in the newly created role of Tourism, Leisure and Events consultant. He provides strategic and operational advice to owners and managers of historic houses, rural estates and farms and leisure-based businesses. He advises clients on how to diversify into innovative business streams, whether that is establishing new, or developing existing tourism, leisure and events enterprises across Scotland.

Angus Dodds, Associate, Planning at Savills
Angus is part of the Scottish planning team and provides advice to rural clients across a multitude of development areas from energy to listed buildings. Most recently he has been helping to lead a major national research project for the Scottish Government, exploring how planning can deliver more for rural businesses and communities. He also has a strong passion in assisting rural businesses with diversification and glamping opportunities.

Alan Bailey, Owner, Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping
Alan Bailey opened Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping on the family’s mixed 575 acre estate near Denholm in 2012. His Safari Tents and supported wild camping on Ruberslaw bring a flavour of African adventures to the Border Hills, alongside the stock, timber and property aspects.
Alan grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe. Hiking in the Lesotho Drakensberg, climbing Kilimanjaro twice, canoeing in the Okavango Delta, and safari-ing to the mountain gorillas in the Congo’s Virunga volcanoes inspired him to bring this new type of tourism offering to the Borders.
Alan has long been committed to the Scottish Borders, setting up a Chartered Surveying Practice in Hawick in the 1980’s and pursuing various business interests in the area.
Alan believes the economic potential of the Region’s scenic and cultural assets is not well represented by current piecemeal marketing projects, and supports the drive to improve the area’s British and international profile through a co-ordinated National Park brand.
