Bob McIntosh, the Tenant Farming Commissioner, will give an overview of the process, the guidance available and the role of the TFC in appointing agents to carry out the valuations. He will also draw attention to some of the key issues and processes that will determine how easy or difficult it will be for landlords and tenants to make use of this legislation.
Kate McLeish from Brodies LLP will provide an overview of the legal process involved in assignation and relinquishment and highlight the key provisions from a landlord's perspective.
Rob Forrest from FBR Seed will discuss the practicalities of the valuation process. Looking at the specific items such as background information required, procedure, different valuations required and the valuation specifics.

Dr Bob McIntosh CBE (Tenant Farming Commissioner)
Dr Bob McIntosh CBE spent all of his career in forestry and land management with the Forestry Commission. Since retiral he sits on the Scottish Land Commission as Scotland’s first Tenant Farming Commissioner, is a board member of Highlands and islands Enterprise, Chairs the board of trustees of the Scottish Forestry Trust and is a member of the executive Committee of the Association of Deer Management Groups.
Kate McLeish, Partner, Brodies LLP
Kate acts for landed estates, farmers and agri-businesses across Scotland and deals with a wide range of rural property matters, including land sales and acquisitions, leases, fishings and complex voluntary registrations. Kate is an Accredited Specialist in Agricultural Law and regularly advises on agricultural leases and the recent reforms to agricultural holdings legislation.
Rob Forrest, Director, FBR Seed
Rob Forrest Rural and FBR Ltd formed a professional association with in 2012 and Rob became a Director of FBR Ltd in 2015. He has practised as an independent rural professional since the late 1990’s and also brings extensive practical farm management experience being actively involved in running the family farm. Rob focuses on all aspects of rural surveying practice, and specialises in rural valuation, utility compensation, landlord tenant, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution. He is a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society (FRAgS), a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV) and holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Elmwood College and an MSc in Management and Marketing for Rural Businesses from Plymouth University.
