Following on from our event in June, we are holding another informal members round table event on Tuesday 30 November from 10:00 – 11:30am chaired by Karen Ramoo, Policy Adviser Forestry, Conservation & Wildlife Management. Joining the roundtable will be David Bavin, Senior Carnivore Project Officer at Vincent Wildlife Trust.

At the start of the year an extensive study to assess people’s views about the possible reintroduction of Eurasian lynx to the Scottish Highlands was launched by Scotland: The Big Picture and Trees for Life.  This work is being carried out by scientists from Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT) who hope to identify stakeholder perceptions around the concept of reintroducing lynx to Scotland, identifying what opportunities, barriers, or concerns exist, and how these might be further explored.

David Bavin will present some of the preliminary results from his work so far. The event offers members an opportunity to ask questions and express their views on the potential for reintroduction of Eurasian lynx.

The event is split into two parts in order to accommodate for those members who did not attend the first event in June. You are welcome to register for the whole event and/or just the session of interest.

10:00 – 10:30

Introduction to lynx, why reintroduction is being discussed and the study currently being carried out to assess people’s views about the possible reintroduction of Eurasian lynx to the Scottish Highlands was launched by Scotland: The Big Picture and Trees for Life.

10:30 – 11:00

David Bavin shall present some of the preliminary results from the study. This will be followed by a Q&A session.

We shall also be using the event as an opportunity to canvass views which will be used to help inform the organisation's position. SLE is not endorsing the reintroduction of lynx. We are simply facilitating the conversation on this and allowing for member input.
