Situated on the Tayvallich peninsula in mid-Argyll, the 1370ha Tayvallich Estate forms part of the stunning Knapdale National Scenic Area. Containing a mosaic of habitats ranging from coastal, marine, wetlands and salt marsh through to ancient native woodlands and species-rich grasslands, the estate holds exceptional natural capital value and biodiversity uplift potential.
Join us on this Walk and Talk in which we will learn how Highlands Rewilding are working in partnership with the community to formulate and implement a joint vision for the future of the area.
Following arrival at Coshandrochaid House we will have tea and coffee and an introduction to the estate.
We will then hear from Kat Hill, Community Coordinator and Ewan Paterson, Estate Manager from the Highlands Rewilding team, who will give an introduction to Tayvallich, Highlands Rewilding’s restoration goals and the community.
In particular they will focus on Highlands Rewilding’s community engagement roadmap, Memorandum of Understanding with the Tayvallich Initiative (the local community body), selling land to the community at Tayvallich, and the start of the Community Joint Ventures Project: ‘Joint Ventures for Scalable Community Benefits from Rewilding’.
Next we’ll head out for a walk around key areas of the estate, including an introduction to the biodiversity and carbon assessment and key areas of focus including rainforest restoration and marine rewilding.
Finally we’ll return to Coshandrochaid House, where we’ll continue the discussion and enjoy a light lunch with an opportunity to ask any final questions.
