Members are invited to meet Ross Foster at the family business on Peacehill Farm to learn about their Anaerobic Digester plant and biomass operation. Peacehill generates sufficient gas to the National Grid to feed over 5000 homes in the area and also provide some of the energy needs to their significant poultry business.

Peacehill Farm was a Helping It Happen Finalist in the category of Climate Change having made the bold investment in renewable energy to create an additional revenue stream while reducing the farm’s operational costs. This event is an opportunity to understand how their AD plant operates within the wider business at Peacehill and discuss key considerations in looking to employ this model of renewable energy generation. It will also assess the ongoing value to the business of the biomass boilers which were installed to manage the energy needs of the extensive chicken sheds against the current backdrop of rising woodchip costs and expiration of RHI.

The family has made significant investment in other renewable energy and technology including solar panels across the chicken shed roofs and a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engine on site to capture the heat that would normally be wasted in electricity generation and supply it to local buildings.

This is an invaluable opportunity to understand the whole farm plan and the cyclical relationship between the poultry business, livestock, arable and energy.
