Ceannacroc is a family run upland Highland estate which has historically been managed as a deer forest, sporting estate and subsequently for sheep farming. Since the 1990s, the resident owners have managed the estate with gradual divergence towards habitat and biodiversity enhancement with the conservation and establishment of native woodlands becoming an increasing estate management focus. Government forestry grants have been key to supporting this work and, more recently, Green Finance through carbon credits is now playing an important role. Zulu Ecosystems have worked with the landowners to develop two ecological restoration carbon schemes, both native woodland creation and the first in their (Zulu Ecosystems’) Lost Woods ancient woodland restoration scheme to be awarded carbon credits.

This event will include an indoor morning session with presentation on the Zulu Ecosystems approach to green finance, Scottish Forestry grants and an overview and update on the Woodland Carbon Code with a chance to ask questions in an open Q&A session. After a sandwich lunch we will visit Ceannacroc Estate to hear directly from the owners about their schemes, aspirations and experience.

Priority booking for places at this event will be given to landowners and land managers. Remaining free places will be allocated to members according to the date of booking.
