Strone Estate in Argyll & Bute region is privately owned by the Turnbull family. The Estate is currently a mixed use estate encompassing Upland Farming, Deer Management, Native Woodland, Commercial Forestry, Fishing and Renewables. This Peatland Restoration project is the latest addition to the list of different management practices on the estate to help enhance its Biodiversity.

The area of restoration being carried out extends to approximately 134 hectares between 510-610 metres above sea level. There are a variety of techniques being used including 24km of Hag reprofiling, 8.6km of Gully reprofiling and over 1000 peat and mineral dams.

Caledonian Climate Partners, who carried out the initial site survey and subsequently designed and now manage the project, will be on hand to answer any questions, including how the project is integrated into the Peatland Code. Tom Turnbull will discuss the practical integration of the project into estate management and the implications and considerations for landowners and managers. A Peatland ACTION Project Officer will also be present to discuss the funding/application process.
