Beirhope Alpacas

Beirhope Alpacas, located in the Cheviot Hills, is an alpaca farm which hosts a variety of different activities and fun days out with the animals in the Scottish Borders.  As a small-scale farm, they grow their own produce along with hosting camping facilities for guests. They have seen huge expansion in the last few years due to their alpaca business and transformed the way they operate their farm, benefiting the local community and the animals along with themselves.

As a small farm, Beirhope have grown their herd of alpacas to 23, alongside their hens, horses, sheep, and their own vegetable produce from their garden. They have a number of alpaca activities that they offer, from hikes and treks to strolls and visits. With the backdrop of the beautiful Scottish Borders landscape, some activities include strolls, meet-a-paca and paca picnic & ice cream.

Their camping facilities include wild camping, to glamping with all the appropriate facilities at hand, and they also sell their own produce of jams, coffee and wool from their shop.

After moving to the farm in 2016, the team at Beirhope took the risk of raising alpacas which has transformed life on the farm for them. They have seen huge growth in business from their animals and their produce to their camping. They are currently in the process of building accommodation on the farm to include bothies and bunkhouses for guests.

The success of the alpaca activities has not only meant good business on the farm but an overall better awareness of Scottish alpacas. The farm offers individuals the opportunity to adopt an alpaca to visit and interact with on the farm along with educational benefits too, this also aids in the protection and care of the animals.
