Christopher is a very active member of the local community and is involved in many aspects of community life. He has developed a local woodland over the past few years and encourages community involvement. He is also a founding member of the Broughton Village Store Community shop, which was bought in 2019 following a community buyout. Christopher was one of the main driving forces behind the buyout and continues to contribute greatly to the running of the store. He also plays an active part in the local choir and previously the community council. His ability to bring together individuals with varying views and gain consensus to drive initiatives forward is remarkable. Christopher is driven by action, particularly where it is of benefit to the greater community. His understated enthusiasm and avoidance of the limelight make him a pillar of the community.
With the creation of Broughtonknowe Woodland, Christopher has enabled many members of the local area to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors and encouraged involvement of all ages to use the woodland, including youth groups, local schools, and many other organizations. As the Chairperson of the Broughton Village Store, he leads an essential service provider in the community, which also offers local employment and serves as a central community hub. Christopher has been an active member of the community council for many years and has also played a central role in the Broughton Choral Society.
