Nominee Summary
Claire-Louise runs the Golspie Youth Action Project. She tirelessly fundraises and provides opportunities for the children and young people of Golspie. Throughout summer the GYAP team provide lunch everyday for our local children. The youth club has a multitude of activites twice a week and brings children on days out that they may not have otherwise had the opportunity to do. They teach young people about money and and older children volunteer. They also run a charity shop. The list of things they do is endless.
Overcoming Challenges
Fundraising during this current economic climate is challenging. Claire-louise and her team constantly go above and beyond working tirelessly to bring new opportunities to our children and young people.
Supporting the community
GYAP has brought our children and community together. Children now have a purpose every week and are given new challenges and learning via this amazing organisation, giving them valuable life skills for the future. The children regularly attend the care home for older folk and put on musical performances. It is completely amazing what they do!
Ethical/environmental standards
GYAP always makes use of local trades and businesses, working closely with local shops and organisations. They teach children about the environment and all sorts of important ethical subjects. GYAP is deeply rooted in our local community, bringing young people and old people together.
