Country Ways, established in 1978, is our family run business specialising in country, lifestyle and equestrian clothing and equipment. We have stood the test of time, being a constant on the Aberdeen high street for over 40 years. As a team, we have broad range of knowledge, including field sports, equestrian and we all share a passion for the Scottish countryside. Lockdown was a big challenge for us, like everyone. However, in July 2021 we took the leap and opened a second store in the picturesque town of Banchory, along the Royal Deeside.
Being able to offer a high level of customer service and assist customers with their needs, is at the heart of our business. From children starting horse riding for the first time to customers participating in field sports, local farmers and international visitors. Country Ways have operated out of the one store in Aberdeen for over 40 years.
After the closure of a nationwide country wear brand in Banchory, an opportunity quickly arose. Banchory seemed like the perfect fit, but this was a big risk due to the fact other businesses were closing or downsizing. We believed the Banchory community needed a boost as well as helping to maintain the high street and pull in visitors to the town. As a business we hold a lot of the same values to the Banchory community, and we wanted to get involved as much as possible, and are now a member of the Banchory Business Association.
Being a small business and with team members locals themselves, we believe we are approachable and understand the local area well. We encourage riding school members of all ages to visit us for a safety checks and fittings. We strive to share how important well fitted equipment is, as well as reach out to this community and show how we can support them. We also run safety events with many clubs including Midstrath Equiworld Club in Aboyne.
With the opening of the second store, we were excited to expand our team and provide job opportunities in the local area and we are proud to have such a diverse team in terms of knowledge, experience and background. We have been able to offer jobs to Banchory residents who, until then had not been able to work at Country Ways due to travel limitations.
