The Hub now provides holistic and non-judgemental support, serving approximately 5,000 beneficiaries annually. This includes preparing and distributing 350 free, healthy meals weekly as a “lifeline to families in food poverty” working with 6 partner organisations, uniquely offering 7-day food support across 6 rural parishes. Beyond food, they provide a "dynamic hub of activity" that includes affordable cookery,relaxation and meditation classes, dance classes (Over 50s Groove ), a painting and a sewing group, each attracting 20 people. They actively combat rural isolation and promote well-being through diverse initiatives like the Chatty Café Scheme, a thriving 65-strong Community Choir and collaborating with organisations like RSABI. The Hub was established following extensive community consultation after the demolition of Crossroads Primary School, transforming the derelict site into a multi-purpose community facility. All profits from the Ayrshire Food Hub are reinvested into the Hub's charitable objectives, aiming to improve the quality of life for local people and promote health and well-being. The Hub actively combats rural isolation by providing free transport in an electric people carrier for vulnerable individuals to access services and activities and notably distribute over 350 emergency meals to vulnerable individuals and families weekly. Their " Food Heritage" ethos also works to preserve traditional Ayrshire dishes and recipes. The Hub champions the local economy, showcasing products from 42 Ayrshire suppliers in its farm shop and using local ingredients in its café, reducing food miles and supporting local businesses.
