The Estates management objectives focus around providing employment, housing and generating economic activity in the local area, as well as the conservation and regeneration of the natural environment. The Estate comprises of 14,500 acres in total and is run as a working Estate. Deer stalking, game shooting, renewables, forestry and farming are the main land uses. Parts of the Castle, gardens and exhibitions are open to the public from April to December. The Estate provides an important recreational benefit to members of the visiting public across a wide demographic.

Glamis Castle is not only a tourist attraction because of the outstanding history within the castle itself, but they also run a variety of events for the general public attracting many visitors. Offering guided castle tours, gardens to explore, a gift shop stocking finest Scottish produce, a Kitchen Garden serving home-grown ingredients, as well as an extensive events calendar. Along with the castle the events calendar is very impressive. Glamis also do kids days throughout the holidays where education and tourism come together, for example at the "Go Potty" Day where you create your own plastic free pot and plant a seed in it to take home and watch grow.
At Glamis Castle it is evident that change is no problem with the extensive variation of the events calendar for all tourists. While appealing to many individuals creating a mass of tourist opportunities, Glamis Castle also benefit the local community. Every year Glamis Castle and the wider Estate supply Glamis Primary School with pumpkins so the children can take part in a pumpkin carving competition. Hosting various events during the school holidays, Glamis Castle have also had to adapt to meet the demand of their visitors in terms of infrastructure and amenities on the estate. Last year, 2022, there were a series of free Children's Nature-based Workshops.
Glamis Castle have an extensive social media page where events and publicised and promoted. They share good news stories and different ways in which the estate has supported the local community. For example, Bowie the dog and his trainer having access to their grounds to use as a location to enhance their search and rescue skills. This year Glamis Castle has paired up with Atholl Estates and Blair Castle, and Scone Palace to create a joint admission pass, the 'Treasure Ticket' gives visitors 10% off admissions to the unique experiences at all three venues. Many of the events at Glamis Castle support and promote other local businesses and suppliers, creating more visitors to the rural area.
