Iona Campbell

Nominee Summary

Iona is a co-founder of Women Who Work in Field Sports.

Nominee – Qualities

Iona is passionate about encouraging more women into a sector which she clearly loves but does it in a very welcoming and inclusive way to ensure that those who are new to fieldsports feel just as valued as those who have been involved for some time. As an interviewer on the WWWF podcast she does a great job of putting guests at ease and is skilled at drawing out what the listeners want to hear. She practices what she preaches – attending events where she may be out of her comfort zone to make new connections and build her knowledge and understanding. Quietly knowledgeable and very engaging.

Nominee - Sectoral Impact

She is an Event Manager at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) and has made a significant impact in the field sports sector through her leadership and initiative. Recognising a lack of dedicated spaces for women in the traditionally male-dominated field sports industry, she co-founded Women Who Work in Field Sports (WWWF), creating a much-needed platform for connection and support. Her work has helped advance inclusivity and representation within the sector, empowering women in field sports.

Nominee - Going the extra mile

Iona saw the space and instead of waiting for someone else to do something, she went ahead and did it. WWWF host events such as first aid courses that are designed for those involved in field sports, and many different networking events. These events are all over the country, Iona has taken WWWF from London to Scotland and Wales, she is committed to ensuring rural-based women are not left out.
