Farming since the 1750’s, The Lennox Family has seen 11 generations running thier 5000 acre tennant Hill farm situated on the western side of Loch Lomond. Not only do the family produce prime Scotch Lamb and Beef, they also welcome over 2000 visitors a year with farm experience tours and bespoke luxury accommodation.

What makes your nominee stand out?

Established in 1750, Lennox of Lomond has seen eleven generations of the Lennox family running the sheep and cattle farm on the western shores of Loch Lomond. Since the 1970s the farm has operated self-catering cottage accommodation and more recently added glamping ‘Bonnie Barns’ to their range of accommodation offering. Lennox of Lomond also offer a range of activities on the farm including adventurous Quad Bike Trailer Tours, showcasing farming skills such as Dry Stone Diking, Live Lambing sessions and experiencing a day in the life of a farmer on the working farm. These experiences engage with a wide range of individuals and groups including schools and corporate groups. Lennox of Lomond highlight the value of the agritourism experience in offering an escape from the hectic pace of the modern world and providing a retreat for visitors to get away from the noise and stresses to really experience Scottish farm life. For those reasons, Lennox of Lomond have grown in recent years as a popular destination for everyone wanting to enjoy a taste of rural Scottish life. Additionally, they were the west central Scottish Enterprise Agritourism Monitor Farmers for 2019 – 2022.

Supporting the local community

Lennox of Lomond has long and storied links to the local community, having farmed in Loch Lomond since 1750. In 2019, the team were invited to serve as Scottish Enterprise’s Agritourism Monitor Farm, demonstrating best practice in agritourism to farmers across Scotland looking to diversify into tourism-linked activities. They are known for teaching skills to the local community such as Dry Stone Diking, Sheepdog training and even ‘how to be a farmer for the day!’

Maintaining high ethical/environmental standards

Lennox of Lomond maintain the highest possible ethical and environmental standards in their work as hill farmers in Loch Lomond. Operating within a National Park as tenant farmers, the team are restricted in their business activity and are held to high environmental standards due to the location. Examples include their extremely high animal welfare standards for their herd of cattle and sheep, sold locally and nationally.
