Lucy Pattinson

Nominee Summary

Heating up Game Fair Kitchen Theatres, Lucy Pattinson is a professional chef and up and coming game meat champion. Specialising in open-fire and game cooking under her brand, The Fodderation, she readily identifies her life with food, fire, and fieldsports. Lucy is the co-founder of both Fodder + Farm (a farm to table dining experience) and Goat Rodeo Goods - a challenger brand shaking up the British Condiment aisle. Both were founded on a strong ethos on regenerative farming, food providence, seasonality, sustainability and minimal waste.

Nominee – Qualities

It all starts in the field or on the hill, with a kill it, cook it, eat it mentality. She grew up as a self-professed feral country girl in Derbyshire who has now cheffed all over Scotland, especially across Highland estate and specialises in open-fire and game cooking. Lucy celebrates the journey of food from farm, field and forest to fork. She is a passionate advocate for local food, sustainability and eating more game! The closest nomination for a signature dish would be for Lucy, Venison over the fire with wild green sauce. “I’m always extra proud to cook something that I’ve shot and butchered myself. Fresh pigeon straight from the hide is hard to beat.” Through all three of her businesses, Lucy is known for promoting new, exciting and interesting takes on game dishes- breaking stereotypes and inspiring others to get in the kitchen to have a go. Making game accessible through both relatable and inspiring new recipes. Lucy's free spirited personality shines through in her business activity, as does her love for nature, landscape and the nation's home grown food. She readily states that she would be very happy as a ghillie on the hill and through her skill and success she has been able to promote the value and contribution of rural communities and traditional land use.

Nominee - Sectoral Impact

Also an ambassador of the National Shooting Show, Lucy has already been featured in various publications through which she campaigns for fieldsports and game meat. Working with BASC she has hosted a Scottish Game Feast at Fodder + Farm, and shot a video on the joy of cooking with grouse for the Glorious Twelfth. She was featured in the Stirling 900 campaign about the importance of eating with the seasons and the history of fieldsports in the area. The Fodder + Farm collaboration between Lucy and farming couple Kat and Kevin aims to celebrate not only the delicious flavors of Scottish game but also the important traditions of sustainable hunting and conservation that are at the heart of our culinary heritage. By joining forces, they created a one of a kind dining experience in Fodder + Farm that not only tantalises taste buds but educates and empowers people to make conscious choices about their food and its environmental impact. This includes a commitment to minimise waste and this in turn led to the creation of Goat Rodeo Goods in 2024. Already winning Scottish Edge award in 2025 this new entry business has realised quick success with 175 stockists across the UK. Goat Rodeo was a means to utilise surplus from their events business, creating a range of kitchen provisions while it also provided a platform for their bold, striking personality and convictions to "flavour-forward creativity and reducing food waste" focused on seasonal Scottish produce.

Nominee - Going the extra mile

Lucy believes it is important to remain humble, always be ready to learn, care (really care) and know your produce. She also credits business partner at Fodder and Farm/ Goat Rodeo Goods Kat Goldin, who encourages her wild ideas and helps bring them to life. Their shared values and complementary skill set have created a powerhouse in Goat Rodeo Goods. This business presented an opportunity to not only use their own surplus but to take surplus from Scottish farms which both saves good food from going on the compost, and also means local farmers get paid for otherwise worthless stock with a further aim to change the narrative around seasonal food. For the pair, supporting British farming is non-negotiable and for Lucy, the premium products harvested off the sporting estates are equally as important. as she strives to present a new take on game, making this more accessible. Lucy's panache for open-fire cooking has won her attention and a platform with National Shooting Show and BASC while back at Farm + Fodder Lucy offers workshops where guests can learn how to prepare and cook local game and produce over an open flame. It is clear that Lucy's experience as a chef has brought with it a conviction for our rural landscape, communities and traditions and is a passionate advocate for both shooting and eating British Game, and using local, seasonal produce.
