Moovin' Milk

Moovin' Milk was set up in 2019 by two brothers, Andrew and Calum Telfer, to diversify the family dairy farm into pasture milk, which is sold through a milk vending machine in a trailer that can be transported to different local villages throughout the week. The brothers started the business to add value to the milk from their cows, which constitute the oldest pedigree herd of Holstein Friesian cows in the UK, and to ensure the herd's future in the industry. The milk is only pasteurised, not homogenised, which gives it its full cream potential.

Moovin' Milk is the sole mobile milk dispenser in Scotland; they initiated their business during the Covid epidemic to ensure that, despite all the restrictions, local villages had access to fresh milk daily. Their milk is more natural than supermarket milk, being fresher and cleaner.

The business would not have been feasible without the assistance of local tradespeople and businesses. From the bottle design to the construction of the pasteurisation room, all work has been executed by businesses in the vicinity of the farm. They also support other small businesses near the trailer's locations, encouraging people to buy local and support similar small enterprises.

The milk is sold in glass bottles that can be reused, thereby reducing the use of plastic for milk packaging. Food miles are minimized; the milk is produced on the farm, pasteurised, and then transported within a 10-mile radius of the farm. The cows are milked at 4.30am, pasteurised, and loaded into the trailer for transport to its destination by 8.30am. It doesn't get any fresher than that.
