Located in the Scottish Borders, Over Langshaw Farmhouse create their very own ice cream, using produce straight from their farm, called ‘Cool As...’. This business venture has allowed the farm to multiply its development offering ice cream across Scotland and has transformed Over Langshaw Farm’s community.
Over Langshaw Farmhouse have successfully been transforming their dairy produce into marketable ice cream for years now. They use produce straight from their animals of fresh milk, cream and eggs which is the root of their iconic ice cream recipe. Using their seasonal produce, their flavours are inspired by the fruits and berries growing around them and they create a uniquely creamy and delicious product to be enjoyed all year round.
Reducing their impact on the environment and their overall carbon footprint, the farm act sustainably in their production using wind power from 'Winifred', their turbine at the top of the hill.
With a large range of flavours which vary with the seasons, the farm is able to offer their product to buy straight from the farm or through local deliveries. The popularity of the ice cream has allowed the business to expand throughout Scotland to introduce new flavours and to offer wholesale to retailers. They are also featured at many local festivals throughout the Boarders all year round, and sell from a converted Police box in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh.
Since its start in 2014, the Police box from the Grassmarket in Edinburgh, which is hailed as ‘probably the smallest ice cream parlour in the world’, has offered a selection of their luxury ice creams, along with their sorbet, coffee and affogatos to the Edinburgh locals. Their innovation continued when they adapted their business throughout the pandemic to the new restrictions, which included starting a new online shop; lockdown deliveries; and supplying to local shops and butchers.
