Caithness Seal Rehabilitation and Release is a new (privately run) conservation company. Through their work and dedicated volunteers, they are the only seal rescue and release organization for the Northern Highlands. They have been open since October and have released almost 15 seal pups. Caithness Seal Rehabilitation and Release is passionate about saving marine life and protecting the two seal species in the Highlands. The impact on the colonies themselves is huge, because without this protection, these seal pups wouldn't have survived. This season, they are looking at GPS for every pup released, so they can build up a record of what happened after their intervention. The community was reserved about seal conservation, but with a lot of publicity, talking to the community, and holding information evenings, the community has responded very positively.
