Glengorm Farming Partnership

Situated in the breathtaking landscape of the Scottish countryside, Glengorm Farming Partnership has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to sustaining rural property through their innovative practices and collaborative approach. Their efforts have not only improved the quality of life for those living and working in the area but have also contributed significantly to the local economy and environment. With a passion for land stewardship and community engagement, Glengorm Farming Partnership stands as a shining example of excellence in the agricultural industry.

Recognising the acute need for affordable housing on Mull, Glengorm is committed to increasing the supply of permanent housing locally, including releasing land for new build and converting some of its properties from short term to long term rent. The refurbishment of a disused barn on the farm site will create a further five new homes, which will be offered at affordable rents to those in housing need on completion. The project was made possible by grants from the Scottish Government's Rural & Islands Housing Fund and Argyll & Bute Council's Strategic Housing Fund. The Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT) assisted Glengorm in securing the grant, carrying out community consultation to identify housing need and advising on the necessary allocation policy.

Glengorm Farming Partnership recognises the important role it plays in preserving and enhancing the natural environment. Through careful planning and sustainable practices they have implemented numerous initiatives to protect biodiversity, promote conservation and combat climate change. Their commitment to organic farming, wildlife conservation and restoration of natural habitats has resulted in improved soil health, increased biodiversity and enhanced carbon sequestration. By adopting innovative approaches such as precision farming and renewable energy solutions, they have minimised their environmental footprint and become a beacon of sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Glengorm Farming Partnership has demonstrated the power of collaboration in rural land management. By actively engaging with local communities, stakeholders and neighbouring estates, they have fostered a spirit of cooperation across boundaries. Through joint ventures and shared resources, they have implemented sustainable land management practices that benefit the wider area. By building strong relationships with their neighbours, they have not only improved their own operations but also contributed to the overall wellbeing of the region. Glengorm Farming Partnership strongly believes in fostering a sense of community and empowering future generations. They actively engage with local schools, universities, and organizations to provide educational opportunities and share their expertise. By hosting workshops, apprenticeships, and work placements, they inspire young people to consider careers in agriculture and rural land management. Their commitment to education and outreach initiatives ensures the continued vitality of rural communities by nurturing the next generation of farmers, land stewards, and environmental advocates.
