Scottish Land & Estates today supported a police appeal for information following a suspected attempt to target birds of prey in Strathspey.

Police Scotland officers were called on Saturday, June 8, to a forest near Loch Gynack where a goshawk nest was found abandoned in what are described as "suspicious circumstances".  Police have said the nest was deliberately targeted with a shotgun.

Ross Ewing, Director of Moorland at Scottish Land & Estates, said: “We echo Police Scotland’s appeal for information on this matter and would urge anyone that is able to assist the police’s inquiries to contact them as soon as possible.

“Everyone should do all they can to assist in tackling raptor crime. We hope the facts are established urgently and anyone with details that can assist police comes forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference CR/0211821/24, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
