Beth Millar

Beth Millar is a newly appointed manager at Jacksons at Jedburgh Farm, starting her journey in 2023 within the front of house team. Her enthusiasm, work ethic and drive to succeed rocketed her to a management position within 12 months. Beth has keenly engaged Scottish Agritourism and since discovering the wider sector, has taken part in networking events, offered to volunteer and applied to the rural leaders' network. Beth has absorbed as much information as possible to ensure she is excellent at welcoming visitors to the farm, educating them, and getting stuck into animal husbandry jobs. She is always interested in farming opportunities to top up her knowledge, making her an asset to the visitor business as she can answer a large variety of farming questions.

Beth has brought fresh eyes and enthusiasm to a rural business still in its early years, enabling the company to continue growing at pace. Bell has done well to nurture relationships with local suppliers and other farm diversification businesses. She is a brilliant leader and role model for staff joining the team, taking them under her wing and supporting them on their journeys. She is passing down and sharing her positive experience working at Jacksons at Jedburgh and making rural hospitality a rewarding career choice for new colleagues. Beth plays a strong part in ensuring visitors are connected to and educated about rural Scotland. She is a champion for the rural area surrounding Jedburgh, and this passion comes through when she speaks to people.

Beth was offered the opportunity to create an experience of her own at the farm and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. From idea generation to planning stages, Beth has taken practical and financial considerations into account, reaching the launch phase of the project in record time. She created a solid, unique and valuable experience that complements the activities already on offer at Jacksons at Jedburgh. She took a mature and considered approach to criticism, using feedback to improve the experience and taking quick decisions to contribute further to the business. Beth has utilised the skills learnt during her nursing training and work experience placements to become an important and influential member of the Jacksons at Jedburgh team.
