This webinar will bring together NatureScot, Wildlife Estates Scotland and interested SLE members to explore the practical use of the Farm Biodiversity Scotland and Natural Capital tools. The webinar will begin with presentations on the purpose of the tools, how they are intended to be used, and how they can support members in recording and evidencing natural capital and biodiversity on the ground.

Liz Auty and Kay Prichard will introduce the Farm Biodiversity Scotland Tool. Liz is the Farm Biodiversity Project Manager and Kay is Special Advisor leading on the development of the tool. The project is testing a simple biodiversity auditing and planning process for farmers with four steps: Map, Measure, Manage and Monitor.

Donya Davidson and Sophie Manson will present the Natural Capital Tool. Donya is the Natural Capital Manager at NatureScot leading on the development of the Natural Capital Tool. Sophie is the Natural Capital Project Officer leading on the testing and piloting of the Natural Capital Tool in practice. The Natural Capital Tool aims to help land managers and decision makers take a natural capital approach to land use at landscape-scale.

The webinar will finish with an open forum discussion for members. This will provide an opportunity to share experiences of using the tools in practice, discuss benefits and challenges, ask questions, and explore how the tools can be applied across different landholding types and management objectives.
