At just 15 yrs, Erin is already making a meaningful contribution to rural life through enthusiasm, responsibility and a strong connection to local traditions. As a Gaelic speaker, she actively helps keep language and culture alive while embracing opportunities that strengthen community ties. Her interest in hunting reflects respect for the countryside, practical skills and an understanding of rural stewardship beyond her years. Erin stands out as a confident and engaged young person who brings energy, curiosity and dedication to everything she does and is building skills and confidence for the future. Hunting also reflects her self-discipline, responsibility and a thoughtful connection to the land and community around her. Growing up in a rurally, her passion for the rural sector which has helped her grasp the challenges rural communities face, striving to sustain themselves and the subsequent hurdles of meeting government targets. She's resilient in finding innovative solutions for sustainability where her understanding of the interdependence between people, land and our livelihood stand out. She values both tradition and progress and someone who embraces modern opportunities while staying grounded in the culture, language and landscapes that shape rural communities. Her enthusiasm, resilience, and pride in where she comes from makes them an inspiring young person and worthy candidate.

Nominee - Sectoral Impact

Erin was fortunate enough at the age of 15 to be involved in the consultation with the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee regarding the new Natural Environment Bill and the impact it will have on Deer Management. Through this opportunity it allowed her to express her views on modern-day deer management and how we can more effectively use venison. She has also committed time to volunteering at a local training centre which has encouraged the younger generation into the rural sector and help them gain valuable skills that will be beneficial throughout their life. Having been taught Gaelic from the age of 6 years, Erin has been able to use her skills to teach ASN pupils in her High School the basics for the past year every week and has enjoyed this experience enormously.

Erin consistently goes above and beyond in the way she contributes to rural life, showing commitment and enthusiasm well beyond her years. She does more than simply take part, she actively invest time and energy into supporting our family croft. Erin's taking the lead in developing new systems for raising cattle on common grazing while enhancing her knowledge of environmental benefits and improving habitats. Erin is an advocate for younger generations understanding the importance of surroundings and their sustainable management. She had a strong work ethic and a readiness to contribute wherever needed. Whether supporting community activities, encouraging others to engage with Gaelic language and culture or developing skills connected to rural living, she brings energy and commitment well beyond her years.
