Next Generation Landowning Members' Event at Hopetoun Estate (PLEASE NOTE: This event is for landowning members only)

SLE Next Generation landowning members are invited to Hopetoun Estate to learn about the diversification and succession journey that has taken place on the estate.

The 6,500 acre estate sits predominantly within West Lothian, with the Forth Estuary at the very north of the Estate.

Hopetoun has been the ancestral home of the Hope family for over 300 years; the present Earl of Hopetoun lives in the house and The 4th Marquess of Linlithgow (the head of the family and the Earl of Hopetoun’s father) lives on the Estate.

The main activities on the Estate include farming, property, forestry, retail, heritage and recreation, which will be discussed during the visit by the Earl of Hopetoun. We will also hear about community engagement, access, film production and renewables, as well as future plans for the estate.

Alongside the Earl of Hopetoun, will also hear from Stephen Young, Director of Policy at SLE and Eilidh Adams, Partner and Succession Specialist at Gillespie Macandrew.
