Scottish Land & Estates supports police appeal following poisoning of bird of prey in Aberdeenshire
Press ReleaseScottish Land & Estates has today backed a Police Scotland appeal for information after a red kites was confirmed to have been poisoned in Aberdeenshire.
On 30 June, 2026, a member of the public was walking at Morven Hill, near the village of Dinnet, when they found a dead red kite. Following enquiries, it was established that the red kite had been poisoned.
Ross Ewing, Director of Moorland & Strategic Projects at Scottish Land & Estates, said:
“We strongly support Police Scotland’s appeal for information following the poisoning of a red kite in Aberdeenshire.
“Incidents such as this are deeply concerning. Poisoning is both illegal and indiscriminate, posing a serious risk to wildlife, domestic animals and the public.
“Scottish Land & Estates condemns all forms of wildlife crime and continues to work with partners to ensure those responsible for such acts are held accountable. We urge anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist the investigation.”
