New requirements introduced under Awaab's Law came into force for Scotland's private rented sector on 6 October 2026, placing increased emphasis on the prompt investigation and resolution of damp and mould issues. Named after Awaab Ishak, a toddler whose death following prolonged exposure to damp and mould highlighted the need for faster action when hazards are reported, the legislation creates important new responsibilities for landlords and property managers.

This practical webinar will bring together specialist input from GLM Building Surveyors and Architects, alongside an overview of the legal framework and implications of Awaab's Law. Ian McKee FRICS FCABE, a chartered building surveyor who co-founded GLM in 1995, will explain how to identify the causes of damp and mould in residential properties, distinguish between different forms of moisture-related defects, and consider appropriate investigation, remediation and prevention measures, including knowing when to seek specialist professional input.

The session will explain what the new requirements mean in practice, who they apply to, and the steps landlords and property managers can take to manage risk and maintain compliance.

Suitable for landlords, housing managers, rural estate owners, letting professionals and anyone responsible for the management or maintenance of residential property, the webinar will provide practical guidance on both the technical and legal aspects of damp and mould management.
