An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to become our new Regional Manager – North East. Home-based in the North East/Aberdeenshire and working remotely with the full staff team and membership, you’ll build the profile of our organisation, create and maintain relationships with a variety of individuals and organisations and support our members’ businesses and community projects. 

You will need to be a great communicator, skilled at bringing people together to deliver shared goals, possess a full driving licence, and most importantly, be excited about seeing rural Scotland thrive!

Title: North East Regional Manager

Line Manager: Head of Regions and Regional Chair

Based at: Home-based/NE Scotland – Aberdeenshire – with regular travel across the region 

Salary Scale: £29,049 - £34,858 (pro-rata)

Hours: Part-time: 21 hours per week 

Holidays: 32 days per year including 6 bank holidays pro-rata

Job DescriptionEvents Co-Ordinator
LocationHome based in the North East – covering Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire – with regular travel across the region. Also, occasional travel to national events and SLE office in Musselburgh. 
Reports toHead of Regions and Regional Chair 
General overview

The Regional Manager will work with the local Chair, North East committee, local member hubs and SLE Regional, Policy, Communications and Business teams to deliver an agreed regional workplan.  Key areas of regional activity to deliver are:    

 • Engaging with members, supporting their businesses and representing their interests 

• Promoting the positive contribution of the members  

• Building the profile of membership and the organisation 

• Promoting best practice 

Main duties and responsibilities

• To build and strengthen effective relationships with the membership in the region, and develop a good understanding & knowledge of their businesses and views 

• To raise awareness of the social, economic and environmental contribution of rural land managers.  

• To support the regional chair in mobilising the membership in the region  

• To assist with the retention of membership 

• To support member hubs across the region – geographic and topic based 

• To work with members to produce content for various regional communications and marketing outputs 

• To communicate regularly to members in the region through a variety of channels, including social media  

• To support effective networking amongst the membership  

• To arrange member meetings, estate visits and regional events. 

• To act as a contact point between SLE and local representatives of Scottish Government departments, its agencies, local authorities and branches of relevant rural organisations within the region 

• To support the Regional Chair and committee in the delivery of regional political engagement  

Other Duties & Responsibilities

• To work with the regional chair to produce regular reports on regional activity 

• To represent SLE at appropriate events in the region 

• To represent SLE on key regional stakeholder groups or provide support to members who represent the organisation on such groups 

• To provide administrative support to the Regional Chairman, Regional Committee and other regional groups.

  • Experience of working with local authorities and other partners 
  • Sales or recruitment
  • Experience of working in a membership organisation

  • Knowledge of rural issues  
  • Familiarity with key land management issues   
  • Good computer skills and experience of using Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint and Teams 
  • Knowledge of Scottish political scene and political processes
