Highland Carbon
07427 104451
Highland Carbon is a carbon offsetting partner with a difference. We maximise the woodland and peatland carbon value of Scottish estates in three ways. Firstly, we help to shape and describe projects according to their biodiversity and conservation merits, thus achieving a high listed price point. Secondly, we offer a carbon price tracker so that the income to each estate increases with any growth in the carbon market. Thirdly, we take a much smaller broker commission than is typical. With a single transaction, one of our landowner clients recently earned several hundred thousand pounds! Highland Carbon was founded in 2018 by a zoologist with experience in international conservation and large-scale habitat restoration projects in the UK. We form sales agreements with landowners before projects are listed on the carbon exchange. This achieves a predictable supply of projects that we can actively market and sell in order to optimise landowner income.

Highland Heritage Woodworks Ltd
07752 730977
Highland Heritage Woodworks (“HHW”) is an innovative Scottish master carpentry and sawmill business whose mission is to add real, long-term value to home-grown timber whilst providing high-quality, rural-based craft jobs. HHW’s narrative is defined as ‘Forest to Front Door’ which describes the unique characteristics of the business that allows it to source it’s raw materials from the forest and turn them into exceptional, quality outputs utilising the skillset of the team. Based on the Dunecht Estate in Aberdeenshire, the company, which was setup in 2021, creates a varied suite of products including structurally graded timber for buildings, exterior cladding, technologically advanced engineered timber, boardwalks, high-end cabins and lots more besides. These products are produced with a strong focus on durability, traceability, provenance and keeping value within the rural Scottish economy and it’s all done with a wry smile and a sharp focus on sustainability. What sets Highland Heritage apart is their vertically integrated approach. Timber is sourced from Scottish forests they know and trust, processed on their renewable-energy electric sawmill, dried in a biomass kiln fuelled by their own wood waste, and finished using high-precision modern machinery designed for consistency at scale. This allows them to supply high-performance timber solutions that compete directly with imported materials, while offering landowners and estates a far more resilient, local supply alternative. Alongside commercial projects, Highland Heritage is increasingly involved in estate infrastructure, rural buildings, and demonstrator projects that show how Scottish timber can be used confidently, beautifully and responsibly in modern construction. At a time when estates are under pressure to balance commercial return, environmental responsibility and long-term land stewardship, Highland Heritage Woodworks offers a practical model for how Scottish timber can support all three. Their work speaks directly to issues around local supply chains, rural employment, woodland management and the future role of domestic timber in the built environment. Member benefits: An exclusive offer to SLE members of a free consultation to share our experience of understanding your timber resource, the suitability of different timbers for estate projects, opportunities for land diversification including high end holiday accommodation and innovative ways to undertake renovations of estate buildings.
