Line Manager: Director of Policy 

Based at: Scottish Land & Estates’, Eskmills, Musselburgh 

Salary Scale: £21,840, £28,340  per annum, dependent on experience. 

Hours: 34.5 hours per week (9 – 5 Mon to Thurs, 9 – 4.30 Fri) with some flexibility required

Holidays: 32 days per year including 6 bank holidays

General overview

You will be working at the heart of a busy and vibrant team to play an integral role in the delivery of the organisational objectives.  By working to support the Director of Policy, Press & Public Affairs Manager and  policy team you will have the opportunity to gain experience and develop professional skills in a diverse range of activities.

 

The role will involve considerable engagement with internal staff, members, and external stakeholders.

Education/Qualifications:Educated to higher education level or relevant work experienceDegree relevant to the role
Experience:

 

Understanding of policy landscape and political engagement 
Skills/Knowledge:

General understanding of, and interest in, issues affecting rural Scotland

 

Excellent communications skills, including ability to engage with a wide range of people

 

Skills in managing priorities in a pressured working environment and working to deadlines

 

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Experience of working in a policy environment 

 

Experience of assisting with the organisation of events

 

Knowledge of databases and logging of information

 

Experience of meeting minute/note taking

 

Aptitudes/Attributes

Ability to work flexibly and with enthusiasm

 

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

 

Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends, for which time off will be given in lieu
