Commenting on the Scottish Government’s Environment Strategy for Scotland: vision and outcomes report published today (25 February 2020), Stephen Young, Head of Policy at Scottish Land & Estates said:

“Land managers are in the perfect position to help deliver the Scottish Government’s vision for the environment. Our members are already carrying out vital work in conservation, biodiversity and wider environmental efforts, including through our Wildlife Estates Scotland accreditation programme. We now need a clear steer from the Scottish Government on their plans for agriculture, as we have set out in our paper ‘#Route2050: the future direction of land management in Scotland’. Ensuring investment and clear direction in farming and land management now will help ensure long-term success in meeting targets on climate change and wider environmental challenges.”
