The Scottish Game Awards – which highlights the fantastic contribution of sporting estates, game dealers, gamekeepers and ghillies in delivering for people, jobs and nature – have been launched for 2024.

The new awards are a collaboration between Scottish Land & Estates (SLE), GWCT Scotland and Scotland's Regional Moorland Groups (SRMGs).

Nominations are now open across four categories:

The closing date for nominations is Monday 13 May, with the winners to be announced at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair on Saturday 6 July.

The three organisations said it was vital to publicly recognise the outstanding work that takes place across Scotland’s country sports sector.

Ross Ewing, Director of Moorland at Scottish Land & Estates, said: “We are delighted to be launching The Scottish Game Awards which seek to champion and tell the story of estates, teams and individuals who are going the extra mile in the country sports sector. The social, economic, environment and nature rewards which flow from country sports are vast and bring benefits to everyone, not just fishing, stalking or shooting enthusiasts.”

Rory Kennedy, Director Scotland at GWCT Scotland, said: “There is a strong commitment to conservation and sustainability from Scotland’s estate owners, land managers, gamekeepers and ghillies and this results in a rich array of flora and fauna thriving on hills, moorland and waterways. By acknowledging this contribution through these new awards we can encourage others to go the extra mile as well.”

Mark Ewart, National Coordinator of Scotland’s Regional Moorland Groups, said: “Gamekeepers and land managers, and the estates that they work on, are the backbone of many rural communities - something that is well recognised at a local level but perhaps less widely understood.  These awards will recognise those who go above and beyond and we’re extremely pleased to be supporting them.”
